NGERO champions locally led climate action across five priority areas — pairing on-the-ground restoration with the systems change that makes it last, from clean energy to community education.

Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy

Implement energy efficiency retrofits in county-owned buildings and facilities to reduce energy consumption and operating costs.
Promote the adoption of renewable energy technologies such as solar panels and wind turbines through incentives and education programs.
Partner with utilities and energy providers to expand access to clean energy options for residents and businesses.

Transportation and Mobility

Invest in public transportation infrastructure, including bus rapid transit, bike lanes, and pedestrian-friendly streets, to reduce reliance on single-occupancy vehicles.
Expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure and incentivize the transition to electric and hybrid vehicles.
Develop transportation demand management strategies to encourage alternative modes of transportation and reduce traffic congestion.

Waste Reduction and Recycling

Implement source reduction initiatives and promote the use of reusable products to minimize waste generation.
Expand recycling programs and improve waste collection and processing infrastructure to increase diversion rates.
Support composting initiatives and organic waste recycling to reduce methane emissions from landfills.

Natural Resource Management

Protect and restore natural habitats, wetlands, and green spaces to enhance biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.
Implement sustainable land use practices such as conservation easements, land preservation programs, and smart growth principles.
Enhance water management and conservation efforts to protect water resources and ensure long-term sustainability.

Community Engagement and Education
